Origin

Anakeen was created in 1998 by a man at the origin of the first service of Electronic Documents Management within the most important European Software & Engineerring Company. Quickly joined by the members keys of this pole, Anakeen is originally Software & Engineerring Company in Free Software to drive companies to be equipped with first collaborative tools (e-mail, shared schedules, remote accesses...).

From 2000, the need to put into practice the years of experiences, acquired within major accounts in the most ambitious projects of management of the information, is felt. Organizations begin to see the added value to exploit in best their information. The idea to create toolbox combining the advantages of a product on shelf as « Documentum® » , « Open Text® » or « Lotus Notes® »  and of a specific development "from scratch" leads to create free document management : freedom.

To develop as a free software is at once the choice made by the creators of freedom, because it allows all to contribute, what is advantageous for the software vendor, and to guarantee to all the buyers a perpetuity of access to the source code. It is thus quite naturally that the choices of PHP and PostgreSQL is made, because these tools are free standards. Today it is evident that these choices were really relevant.
