Introduction

At Anakeen we are persuaded that free software is the future of the software. They drive to more innovation, value, freedom of choice and to a dynamic, lucrative and competitive ecosystem. That we are developer, a customer or a software vendor, each has advantages to use the free licenses. It is a 100% win/win system.

 

However, we are obliged to notice that this licenses implies constraints and consequences which cannot be convenient for certain organizations looking for specificities appropriate for proprietary licenses (Guarantee, Support, Legal Protection, not Contamination).

 

To take advantages of these two approaches, while offering a fair and equitable model, Anakeen chose to market freedom toolbox within the framework of the contract, named "EEC" for "Equitable Enterprise Contract".

 

Specificities

The difference with the economic models to double license is that we do not oblige you to adopt some license, on the contrary we leave you the choice.

The contract EEC is not thus a proprietary license. It is a frame in which we offer you the possibility of choosing your license.

However, to respect the spirit of the free software and so that the contributions and\or the improvements financed within the framework of your project are put back to the community, then we encourage you to leave a free or open source license. This incentive is not that moral, it is also a financial.

Anakeen considers that this approach of the free software supported formally by a company, a trick the best of both worlds by allowing to assure a growth continues of the product and by maximizing its pond of users and potential contributors.

 

Example 1

I am integrator, I realize for a customer an application for which I wish to obtain an expertise and an accompaniment on behalf of the software vendor. My customer subscribes then to the contract EEC with Anakeen. So my customer has no objection against the redistribution of the sources of his future application then he chooses the use license AGPLv3.

Example 2

I am developer and I wish to realize a not critical application for my company and without consulting, nor support on behalf of the software vendor. I can thus download, modify and make use my application so created with freedom toolbox.
My only obligation is to put my contributions under license AGPLv3 and to offer to the users of my application, an access to sources.
